I am reading today and beginning to study the bible more. Today, what stands out to me is the Book of Matthew, more specifically Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt becomes tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.”

If seasoning has no flavor, it has no value. If Christians make no effort to affect the world around them, they are of little value to God. If we are too much like the world, we are worthless. Christians should not blend in with everyone else. Instead, we should affect others positively, just as seasoning brings out the best flavor in food. (pg1594 NASB Life Application Study Bible)

Today I want to remind myself to be more like Jesus. When Jesus taught us about Salt and Light he said “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16)

I want my kids and my students to see my light, and to see Jesus in me and my actions.
